  • The Little Details: Things like weep screeds, which are small slits in brick walls that let water drain away, are easy to overlook but important for preventing hidden water damage. Even simple things like making sure appliances work properly can make a big difference in how the buyer perceives the home.

  • Buyer Psychology: Buyers want to feel that the house has been well cared for. It’s not just about flashy features; it’s about practicality. Things like clean ovens, smooth-operating windows, and a well-maintained crawl space all contribute to a sense of trust and care.

Basements: The Final Frontier


Basements can be intimidating, but they have so much potential. I always emphasize the importance of making crawl spaces accessible and checking for any signs of moisture. Even a musty smell could indicate a bigger problem. During inspections, I also look for things like efflorescence—a white powdery substance on walls that indicates trapped moisture.
